The School of the Future Brooklyn, opened in 2013, was designed to replicate the success of the original School of the Future in Manhattan, with classes that focus on “real world problems and solutions,”. School of The Future is a college preparatory school that provides each scholar with a diverse education in a safe, nurturing environment which promotes self-discipline, independence, citizenship, motivation and excellence in order to contribute responsibly to the global society and improve the quality of life for self and others. We are a STEM School. We have Z-Space Labs for biology, culturally relevant and responsive curricula, college tours, and various day trips. School of the Future students learn to master how to explain their thinking through the utilization of academic vocabulary, citing textual evidence to confirm and explain their thinking, both written and verbally, across all content area classrooms.
OUR MISSION
SOFBK will provide a safe, caring, and supportive learning environment by embedding social/emotional structures and mental health supports to address the challenges scholars and families are facing and promote the wellness of all. SOFBK will facilitate, engage and support scholars’ learning through STEM education in a flexible learning environment by providing cognitively challenging student-centered experiences. We will use multiple instructional platforms and resources to facilitate developmentally appropriate instruction that is tailored to meet all scholars’ individual learning needs.
OUR VISION
SOFBK will strive to be a consistent and stable learning institution in the community. We envision a school where all students can master the standards. Our school will serve as a foundation in our community that will be supportive while encouraging lifelong learners. Our school will continuously focus on STEM and literacy, and ensure that they are fully integrated into all subject areas.

New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) believes that our schools become stronger when we listen to our students. This year, students will be invited to participate in the Panorama Education Student Perception Survey, a research-based, confidential student survey used across the country to provide teachers with students’ feedback about their classroom experiences.
